There are many frequently asked questions of firefighters, we gladly will answer questions that the general public may have as we are here to serve the community of Georgetown and without the general public, we would not be here.

1. What is your work schedule? The Georgetown Fire Department works a 24 hour on, 48 hour off schedule. The department consists of 3 battalions. 1st Battalion works the first day, 2nd Battalion the second day, and 3rd Battalion on the third day.

2. Isn't it difficult to stay awake for an entire 24 hour shift? Firefighters work 24 hour shifts, but are permitted to sleep at night unless we are needed to make a response. In that instance we must get up and respond to any emergencies that may require our presence.
